Nutritional Therapy

The Consultation

Consultations normally take place within a clinic setting, although it is sometimes possible for me to make home visits in cases where getting to a clinic may be difficult.

Prior to the first appointment you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and short food diary, which provide me with information about your health history and goals, lifestyle and dietary choices.  This takes about 15 minutes and can be done when you arrive for your first appointment.

When we meet, I will go through this information with you, building a detailed picture of your health status and any possible underlying, contributing factors.  These factors are discussed with you, together with appropriate nutritional intervention.  Together we will agree a staged plan of action, encompassing dietary and lifestyle changes, and in some cases supplements.

By discussing a staged plan, we will agree how we will arrive at your goals.  Central to this process is agreeing what you feel you can and want to achieve so that your programme suits your tastes and is sustainable.  You will be supported with shopping lists, menu ideas, recipes and other tips to make any changes as easy as possible.

The initial consultation lasts for around one ¼ hours.  A follow up appointment, four weeks after we first meet, is used to discuss progress and move your programme forwards. Further follow up appointments may be needed according to your health goals and needs, and this can be discussed.

Please note that for issues relating to planned pregnancy or fertility, it may be appropriate to see both members of a couple.
